The Oceanic eDX 1st stage is a top of the line first stage.  This top-of-the-line first stage is environmentally sealed and comes with 4 low-pressure and 2 high-pressure ports.

Also, the exciting new Oceanic eDX first stage comes equipped with a heat exchanger.  This delivers added cold water performance. Also, the Oceanic EDX offers divers a balanced diaphragm design which is from forged chromed marine brass.

Design:

The balanced diaphragm first stage has some clever design features.  As a result, when water enters the main spring cavity, the pressure increase from that water  transmitts by the impermeable diaphragm membrane. So the delicate internal parts are never exposed to contaminants such as salt, sand, chlorine or pool acids.

In other regulators, these environmental contaminants can cause corrosion and mineral deposits to form on the internal mechanism.  All of these factors contribute to deterioration of your regulator’s performance as you dive over time.

As we said, the sealed balanced diaphragm design isolates the main internal components of your  reg from your diving environment. This also means that the EDX is excellent for ice diving, as it won’t freeze up.
